Discord is one of the most popular platforms in cryptocurrency circles.
It helps you build exciting, super-easy to-manage communities and comes with a ton of features for engaging and managing your communities.
The best part is, that people investing in crypto are always looking to join discord groups that can help them earn or invest. So building a Discord Crypto community is a perfect way to drive a ton of super-targeted traffic to your Crypto Kit websites and earn passive income.
Last but not least, on Discord, you can automate almost everything using Bots…
So once you set it up correctly, it’s basically set and forget!
In this article, I’m going to show you how to create a successful Discord community that will drive high-quality traffic to your offers. Don’t worry, it’s not hard 🙂
First Step – Creating a Discord Server
The first step is to create a Discord Server.
A server is like a meeting space or a group for like-minded individuals on Discord.
It can be either private or open to the public.
In your case, it’s best to create a public server since you are just starting.
And don’t worry, a server is easy and free to create.
Once your server is ready, you can start attracting members.
To create a discord server, follow these steps:
Step #1: Join Discord
Sign up for a free discord account by clicking here.
The sign-up form will look something like this:
As you can see, it’s a very simple form. Fill it out and then check your inbox for a verification email from Discord. Click verify and your account will be ready.
Once you verify your account they will prompt you to log in… go ahead and do so.
This is what it will look like on the inside:
Great job! You’re now a member of discord. Let’s move on to the next step.
Step #2: Add a Discord Server
Adding your own Discord Server puts you in charge of the communities you’ll create. You set the community rules and guidelines, invite or remove members, etc. Basically, you run the show 🙂
Log into your discord account and look for the Add A Server button. It will be in the top left-hand corner.
A Discord server lets you create a community where you create your own rules, invite members, and manage it the way you like. Log in to your Discord account and click the + sign to add a new server:
From here you have several options.
Create your own server from scratch or choose one of the templates provided.
You can also click the “Join a server” option to join someone else’s community.
For our purpose, we’ll want to scroll down to the Local Community template and select that.
Next, select the “For a Club or Community” option:
Lastly, give your server a name. Try to make it relevant to your Crypto Kit website.
And be sure to add a decent photo as well. Probably something memorable from your website like your logo.
And be sure to read the community guidelines so you stay compliant.
Hit create and you would have successfully created your first Discord Server!
This is what our dashboard looks like. Yours will look similar.
You are almost set but there is one more move to make – adding bots.
Step #3: Adding Bots
Bots are really smart these days. They can handle most administrative tasks such as speaking with people and other bots.
They help you to automate the entire management of your Discord Server and community and make things easy.
To create a Bot, you must first mark yourself as an admin.
Do this by clicking on your server name in the top-left corner of your dashboard and then navigating to server settings.
Next, click on roles and then default permissions as shown below.
Lastly, scroll to the bottom of the page and select the administrator option as shown below. Turn it on then hit the save changes button.
And just like that, you’re an Admin!
It’s time to add some bots.
Oh, and just in case you are confused about what a bot is, think of it as a sort of plugin or add-on feature.
There are tons of bots available for different purposes. They are created by different developers around the world and each of them comes with its own specifications.
In our, we need a bot to help us moderate our community.
For this, we will choose the bot called MEE6.
To add this bot, click here.
This link above will take you to the Bots on Discord platform where you’ll see a list of bots including MEE6.
You can also search by keyword for any bot you require.
Click on the Add to Sever option.
From there you’ll be asked to log in to your Discord account if you aren’t already.
Once you log in you can add the bot to your server by selecting the appropriate server and hitting the continue button.
This is how everything will look:
Lastly, you’ll be shown a list of permissions to authorities. Select and deselect to your heart’s content.
Once done. Hit the Authorize button.
For this example, I’ll grant full permission.
Congrats, you’ve now added the MEE6 bot to your discord server.
Your MEE6 Dashboard will look a bit like this:
With this bot, you can do a ton of different things such as:
- Create welcome messages for new members
- Send private messages
- Assign roles to new members
- And create custom commands
Go ahead, play around with the bot when you are ready and get a hang of it.
If you need any help with this process, send our support team a message and we’ll be happy to help.
And that’s it, your first bot is up and running.
You can add more bots following these same steps.
See, I told you this wasn’t hard.
Get a Flood of Visitors to Your Discord Server
Okay, let’s do a quick recap on what we’ve done so far.
- Create our own Discord Account
- Added a discord server
- Added our first bot
Next, we need to do a few things to ensure that we get a lot of visitors to our discord group and that we engage with them.
To start off by setting up a few channels.
1. Creating Channels
If this is your first time on discord you might be wondering “what the heck is a channel”
Not to worry.
Channels are basically different chat rooms in your discord server where people can have conversations or share info.
They are very simple to create and will help you organize and manage your visitors.
You can create 3 types of channels:
- Information channels – to share information about your server and offers
- Texts Channels – For text conversations
- Voice Channels – for audio and video conversations
To create a channel, click on the “+” beside the appropriate channel type.
We will create an about us channel together under the information section as shown below:
Now let’s give our channel a name – in the example below, the channel name is “about.”
You have the option of making this an audio or text channel as well as making it private.
Let’s leave everything as it is for now and hit the Create Channel button.
And just like that, you have a brand new channel up and running. This is what it will look like.
In this channel, we should give a thorough description of what our server is about and what members can expect. We should also share relevant links such as links to our cRYPTO Kit websites and social media accounts.
Here’s an example:
Notice – Adding a link to your Crypto Kit website similar to the way I show above will get a lot of visitors. Be sure to do so.
And that’s it, we’ve created our very first channel.
We can create any amount of channels we want using the steps above and we can customize them to manage our members better.
Think about other channels that may be useful to help you grow your discord community and drive traffic to your website. For example, a channel for:
- General chats
2. Attracting Visitors
Now that we have our server channels set up, it’s time to start attracting people.
The best way to get started is by offering incentives via contests and competitions.
And since everyone is in the crypto space to earn, cash or crypto rewards will work best.
And what really works well is competitions that reward people for taking specific actions such as:
- Sharing your crypto kit website
- Sharing your social media accounts
- Liking and following
- Joining your discord group
- Visting your Youtube channel
- Signing up for a newsletter
One platform that allows you to set up these types of competitions is Gleam.
Gleam allows you to create and run competitions and contests with just a few clicks. You can then share these on social media platforms, websites, via email, and so on.
The best part is, that you get a flood of referral traffic for free. There is nothing technical to set up and nothing complicated.
Even if you are a complete beginner, this will work well for you.
Here’s a real-life example from the Crypto Exchange – CEX.IO
Cex.io is giving away $3000 worth of the Matic Crypto and they are gaining a lot of traction from this giveaway.
If you should try this method, be sure to make use of popular and relevant hashtags. For example:
And there are many other platforms like Gleam. Feel free to review some of them.
Another method that will work really well in getting people to join your discord community is by reaching out to powerful crypto influencers on social media.
This is called influencer marketing.
In exchange for a fee, influential people in your niche are willing to promote your offers to their following.
Fees will vary depending on the influencer you work with as well as the results.
With that out of the way, this method is actually pretty straightforward and easy to do.
Just reach out to an influencer in your niche by sending them a message.
Here is an example using the Twitter influencer “Documenting Bitcoin”
That’s it. A simple message like this will do the trick.
If these influencers do offer promotional packages, they will be happy to share their rates and you can have them promote your content, posts, etc.
Go ahead and implement either of these two traffic methods and watch how quickly your following grows.
Boosting Your Channel’s Engagement
Now that we are on track to getting a ton of visitors over to our discord channel, we have to think about engagement.
The more engaged they are, the more likely they will visit the offers you promote such as your Crypto Kit website.
Here are several ideas.
1. Crypto News Channels
Create a channel dedicated to sharing and discussing interesting news about digital currencies.
This will ensure that you always have something new, viral, and newsworthy to share.
People in the crypto space pay keen attention to crypto news because…
Even the smallest piece of information can directly impact the price of a currency they hold.
The idea is to keep them informed and up to date with what’s happening.
But don’t worry, you don’t have to write articles yourself or create any content.
Just share what’s already out there.
I like sharing content from the youtube channel, Hashoshi
This channel discusses everything happening in the crypto space and has really engaging content.
Create a quiz to keep members interested. By using quizzes, you can better understand your community, their needs, and their expectations.
Interactive content, such as quizzes, is more likely to catch members’ attention, keep them engaged, and educate them. And it makes them feel as if their views are important, they are a part of a community that values them.
3. Buy and Sell Channels
Your Discord server should have buy and sell channels for crypto. These channels will help members connect with people who want to buy and sell various crypto assets such as currencies and NFTs.
This marketplace will be helpful for people from all over the world. They will be able to buy and sell various assets that they might not have access to otherwise and they usually get much better rates.
4. Host Events
Another great feature about discord is that it allows you to host events.
Discord events are similar to Facebook lives or Twitter spaces.
These can be live discussions inside of your discord community or on an external platform like Zoom.
Events are a perfect way to show members how they can earn by using your Crypto Kit website.
A few things to consider when hosting an event are:
- Describe the event and its benefits in detail
- Make sure interested members know exactly what they can expect from the event
- Don’t overpromise and underdeliver.
Click here for step-by-step instructions on how to create your next Discord event.
Discord is a great platform for building and growing crypto communities. There are many features on the server that can help you connect with your community and engage them. There is no limit to what you can automate with Discord bots.
You won’t grow your community by creating a server and channels and adding bots. Promote your server actively if you want it to grow. Invite your audience to join by sharing its link. If you want to attract new members to your Discord server, consider offering an incentive.
The key to making your server successful is to market and share the link with your target audience. Incentives can then be offered to current members to encourage them to bring in more members. Organizing events exclusively on Discord will also help you grow your community.
Getting started makes things easier.
