So you have a free WordPress blog, and an Amazon Affiliate Store. Now what?
How does everything tie together?
I’m always on the hunt for great traffic strategies that work… and this one is something that gets really targeted traffic to your ShopABot giveaway/contest pages and is something anyone can follow along and do.
The great thing about this is that you can use it to start seeing real targeted traffic, in any niche – for free.
Why does this work and why is it so damn effective?” It’s really simple…
You’ll be able to tap in to content creators in your niche.
Action takers, content creators and people who also have a blog are different than the average subscriber. Not only are they interested in the topic. They are actively involved in it. They write about it. They spend money to promote their blog and are usually much more passionate as a result.
They also spend their time, money and energy diving deep into their interest because it fascinates them. It keeps them awake at night – and where there is passion, they’ll do whatever it takes to find a solution to get what they want, including paying YOU money for it.
Why This Method Is Actually Better Than Paid Traffic..
Let’s get super specific here. With paid traffic like Facebook ads you can get super targeted.
However, no matter how deep you research, you are counting on your analytics, your data and Facebook’s data to find your perfect audience.
You have to test. Get traffic. Check stats. Which, even if you’re starting on the low side of paid traffic can still add up to a LOT of cash – and then you need to find out WHERE you’ve got the success.
Really start digging into the information. Not just dog owners for example. If you are doing paid ads, then you have to dig into income, marital status, kids, and all these weird demographics to find the perfect match for your audience. Sound complicated?
It certainly can be. It can also get stupidly expensive.
That’s why I like to cut right to the chase.
I want to go after only people that are in my target market.
That will subscribe to my blog.
That will convert to leads.
Those leads will convert to sales.
Those sales mean profits. That is good business.
So, if you are just starting out, and you want to find a way to get noticed, fill the pipeline and really move the meter in your business this simple 4 step strategy is easy to execute and it won’t cost you a dime to get started.
4 Steps To Free Targeted Traffic To Your Blog Everyday
Someone told me about this strategy a few months ago. They contacted our support desk – suggesting that there must be a way to automate it (i.e. “Cindy… please make us a plugin! I want it!”), but I didn’t build it – we’ve been creating a few other things and our devs didn’t have the time.
So, someone else did (darn it… lol). Traffic Zion released late last year and does this process automatically – so if you want to save time and just hit a few buttons and let the software do the manual work, then check it out.
NOTE: To use Traffic Zion you’ll need a self hosted WordPress blog (the software solution for this method is NOT available for free WordPress blog users. The method can be manually done however on your free WP site, and requires 5-10 minutes a day to start seeing some very cool results 🙂
The software is just an alternative. You CAN do this yourself if you want. It’s free, it doesn’t take too much of your time and is super step by step. The software just makes it faster and allows you to increase that traffic, removing the manual process.
Whatever you’re doing, whether it’s with the software – or doing it manually… you should give this a go – it’s one of the easiest traffic methods I’ve come across in a long time! So let’s dive in!
STEP 1: Get a WordPress Account
You’ll need to have a blog for this to work.
If you’ve created a free blog, following the steps to create your own free WordPress blog then you can use that!
If you have a self hosted WordPress blog you’ll still need a WordPress account.
It’s free (you don’t need to take them up on the paid options, this method will work without it)
=> Go here to sign up at WordPress.com if you have a self hosted WordPress blog and don’t have a WP account yet.
STEP 2: Create Gravatar Account
We’re going to use a free service called ‘Gravatar’
So, the first thing we need to do is create an account.
You can do that by visiting Gravatar.com and click on ‘Create Your Own Gravatar’
Once you’ve signed up click on ‘Profile’ and fill that in.
So, since I’ve already got one done, I’m going to create a fun one for my neighbor who is a space pirate.
His name is Al. Al Leon. He says he’s a space engineer. Uh huh. Anyway, this is what it would look like.. (yours will have your own name or the name of your personal … unless your name is Al Leon …. 😀
Next, click on ‘Websites’ in the profile dropdown and we’ll add in our website info.
Now, we add our website info. Then, our link title name. Click ‘Save Website’ (see what that looks like below)
Now your website is in the Gravatar system and we’re ready to start driving traffic
STEP 3: Login to WordPress.com & Search For Tags
Go to WordPress.com/reader/ Make sure you are logged in.
You’ll see the search bar in the middle of the page, yeah?
Search for some keywords that are relevant to your blog.
The more targeted the keywords and blogs are, the better quality traffic you’re going to be getting.
Step 4: Like and follow related blogs
Now we’re going to like and follow 100 blogs and articles a day for 30 days.
This is going to take time, but it’s going to cost you nothing and is a great source of free traffic.
Let me show you what it looks like..
When you follow a post or blog it will say ‘Following’ in green. Do about 100 of these per day.
Next up, we also need to like those post and blogs.
See the little star. You click on that and it’s a ‘like’. When you do that it changes colors.
Once the start turns orange. We’re good to go.
It’s as simple as ‘Wash. Rinse. Repeat.’
Easy yeah? So – go and get yourself some traffic!
If you’ve got your ShopABot store set up and your blog has content on it… you can add a link to your blog and then:
- On your blog write some review posts
- OR write an article on your blog about the contest/giveaway you’re running on your ShopABot store
And then use this system to send traffic to those posts and then – to your store!
Like I mentioned, if you’re using a hosted site (where you pay for hosting and have your own domain name) for your WordPress blog, then you might want to look into using the Traffic Zion plugin.
It likes, follows people and all of that automatically so you don’t have to click and click and click..
I’ve had my VA doing this method manually once I learned about this system – but now that there’s a piece of software that does it automatically for me, well… I can give her some other tasks to work on instead!
=> Here’s a link to check out the Traffic Zion software
Easy peasy! 🙂 So now, it’s over to you!
- Have you used this method before?
- Have you got other ways to get traffic that you’re really digging right now?
- Have you got any traffic specific ShopABot questions I can help with?
Share it in the comments below!
Also – now that I’m not building THAT software (since TrafficZion built it… lol) I have a team of WordPress developers looking for something new to work on.
We’re always improving and upgrading our existing plugins, but if you have any ideas for some other great traffic methods that could be automated let me know too! We’re open to ANYTHING that would be useful – or even suggestions for our existing plugins…
Or maybe you’d like me to share some other training addressing some different topics too?
Leave suggestions in the comments below – talk with you soon!
So I followed these steps to get the free traffic using my new WordPress blog. The main problem I ran into is that after searching for related articles and “following” and “liking” those articels before going to bed, I woke up the next day with over 50 new emails about new posts made to those articles. The email notifications flood my inbox every few minuts. So how can I limit/stop this flood of unwanted emails? I’m thinking I need to go back to the main contributer’s article and unfollow them to stop getting all their updates. Of course this seems counter-intuitive to our goal of getting free traffic.
Hey Brian, I filter like a madwoman. What you can do is create a folder in your gmail account and set up a filter to get them automatically sent to that folder. Then set a reminder in your calendar so you can go and check through them, open anything that jumps out at you and spend 5-10 minutes a day just checking out what they have to offer too.
Blogging isn’t all one-way, yes… you could totally ignore them and just get the traffic – and that will work out fine for your blog, but if you are able to take a few minutes, post a quick comment each day on one of the blogs – it will help you build your blogging community.
Becoming a part of that community gives you a lot of benefits:
1) You’ll be more qualified/engaged traffic
2) You can keep aware of any trends in your niche
3) You’ll connect with like-minded people who could be great resources later
4) With the giveaway/contest, you could potentially have people you could ask then, to share about it with their communities too
