How unbelievably awesome would it be to be able to invest a few moments into a software solution and then have it run on autopilot, filling your new website and social media channels with fresh, high-quality content? Today, I’ll show you how to set up Real Specific on your ShopABot store or any WordPress blog. By the time you’ll be done with this tutorial, you’ll wanna reach out through the screen and give me a hug because that’s the way I felt after having Shane Brooks walk me through the Real Specific interface.

I’ve got the whole video here, but I know that you might be a bit pressed for time – or find it useful to come back and follow the steps as we go, so I’ve also broken down the steps below the video for you too!

What’s inside of the Real Specific members area?

The Dashboard: 

Once you log into your account on the Real Specific website, you’ll see your dashboard. It’s a fairly simple one, containing only the functionalities that you truly need to make the most of this software, so don’t worry, even if you’ve never opened a computer until yesterday, you’ll be able to figure this out.

The dashboard has 4 main tabs:

Discovery Tab

This is where you’ll be able to find any type of content you want.

Publisher Tab

This is where you’ll create and schedule your content, and where you’ll find the Auto Post tools.

Engagement Tab

This is where you’ll see the messages you’ll receive from people interacting with your social media account connected to Real Specific.

Reporting Tab

And this is where you’ll see how the content you’ve published performs. This includes both social media channels and on-site insights.

As you can see, navigating this dashboard is a piece of cake. So, let’s move on to the Settings section, that you can access in the upper right corner of the screen.

You’ll use the Settings section to set the magic of this tool in motion. As Shane puts it, it’s all about Websites – Social Media Accounts – Data Sources – Topics (but this is optional) – Auto Posting. This will take you just a few moments and then you’ll be ready to go.

Let’s address the first thing on the list:

#1 Adding your website to Real Specific

You’ll have to open the Settings section (the drop-down menu) and click Training and Help. Once you’re on the Training and Help page, you’ll have to download the Real Specific plugin.

Once the .zip file is downloaded you’ll have to add it to your WordPress website just like you’d add any other WP plugin (WP dashboard – plugins – add new – upload plugin).

Once you’ve installed the plugin, you’ll have to make sure you’re logged into your account on the Real Specific website and then go to realspecific.com/app/blog and click the Connect button – as instructed by the successful install message the plugin will display.

You’ll next have to go through the necessary steps to allow Real Specific to post content on your blog. For this, you’ll need to enter the name of your blog, the URL of the login page of your blog (i.e. https://yourwebsite.com/wp-admin/), your WP username, your WP password, select Real Specific as the method for content submission, and finish by clicking the Add Website button.

Aaaaand, that’s it. Now you’ll be able to post content from various sources directly to your website/blog.

Now, let’s see how easy you can connect your website’s social media accounts, after all, if you’ll have so much new content on your website, you’ll want to use it to attract new visitors and build up your following.

#2 Connecting your social media channels to Real Specific

This is super easy and it will take you around a minute. All you have to do to connect your social media accounts (and keep in mind that you can use newly created accounts for your website or your personal accounts) is to click the Social Accounts button in the Settings section.

You can connect Facebook pages or Facebook profiles, Twitter and LinkedIn accounts. Simply click Connect for the accounts you want to… well, connect, in order to allow Real Specific to post on them.

If you manage multiple Facebook pages, Shane has your back, you’ll be able to select the pages you want to connect.

It’s as simple as that.

Now, let’s jump into the key feature of Real Specific – the one thing that makes this software a powerhouse for content discovery and curation.

 

#3 Adding data sources to your account

Select Data Sources from the Settings section. As you can see it has a little symbol next to the name, one that you might have seen before you you’ve been involved in online marketing before – the sign for the RSS feed. That is how Real Specific will pull new content for you to review and post.

Before starting this step, you should already have a list of websites you want to use as content sources. Real Specific allows you to pull in content as articles or as videos, so you’ll need the URL for specific blogs that post content relevant to your niche and/or for YouTube channels or YouTube playlists posting video content relevant to your niche.

The easiest way to find new content sources is to look at your own blog categories and then search for them online adding “blogs” after their name. E.g. “home improvements blogs”, “interior design blogs”, “makeup tutorial blogs”.

In the beginning you’ll have some default data sources, but you can remove them if they’re not relevant for your niche.

Once you have your list of content sources, you can start adding them, one by one using the Add Data Source button in the upper right corner.

After you click the button you’ll have to add the name of the source and the URL of their RSS feed.

To find the RSS feed of a blog you want to include, just add a slash followed by the word feed to its URL. Let’s say the URL is http://www.idealhome.co.uk, to find the RSS feed, simply add http://www.idealhome.co.uk/feed to it – that will be the URL you’ll have to add as a source. If any of the blogs you want to use as sources don’t show a feed, just skip them, there are plenty out there.

Another thing I have to mention, something that Shane wishes everyone using Real Specific would do is to write the name of the source in a specific way:

Topic: Source Blog Name: Blog

E.g. Interior Design: Ideal Home: Blog

This will make it easier for you to find the sources in a drop-down list and know what sort of content they pull in (text, video).

When you have entered the name and the feed’s URL you can just click Save and you can celebrating adding your first source.

Pro tip: If you want to include in your sources a blog that publishes content on many different topics and you only want the articles in a certain category, you can just add the /feed to the URL of that specific category so you’d only pull the content published under it.

To add a video data source it’s just as easy. Instead of the RSS feed URL, you’ll add the URL of a specific YouTube channel of that of a specific YouTube playlist. Depending on your niche, it might make more sense to use playlists than channels, just to make sure you’re not getting any content that’s not as relevant to your audience.

Now, let’s talk a bit about topics. As I mentioned before, they’re optional. Real Specific will do a good job even if you don’t set them up, but doing so will ease your work and make things more fun. Here’s how to set them up:

#4 Adding your topics

You’ll find My Topics in the Setting section.

Click on Add New Topic. On the pop-up, you’ll want to add a Name for your topic and down at the bottom where it says Websites, you’ll want to add the websites you added in the previous steps (text content sources or video content sources).If you don’t see them on the list, just go ahead and type the first letters in their names and they’ll appear.

Once you did that you can hit Save and then click on the Real Specific logo in the upper left corner to go back to your dashboard. You’ll see that your categories are now active under the main dashboard menu. You can go through them to see the content they pull in.

To do this, you’ll have to go back to the Dashboard and click Publisher – Auto Post. Then click on Add New Blog Auto Post.

A new pop-up will appear and you’ll have to select a few options.

Select the website where you want to post (the one you previously connected), select a Category that makes sense, the social accounts where you also want to share the content.

At Curation, select Post as Publish.

The Number of Daily Posts should be set to 1 in the beginning. If you select 200 words or more for Content Length, you’ll make sure the articles are higher quality.

At the bottom, where it says Sources, you need to select the sources you added a few moments ago, all of them or just a few of them. You must keep making sure you keep your categories and content sources in line during this process – if you want to set auto posting for videos, select only video sources; if you want articles, select only blog sources. Select the rest of the things depending on your own preferences. When you’re done, just hit Save. That was it, Real Specific will start posting for you.

You can, of course, add more Auto Posts and make sure your website posts new, fresh content super often, even if you don’t have the time to do it. It will work on autopilot.

To auto-post video content, you’ll have to go through the exact same steps as above, just that you’ll have to pick the video category and the video content sources. That’s it.

Real Specific is a very powerful tool and I think we’ve only scratched the surface with this little introduction.
